In the first 150 pg. of the book City of Ember Lina (the main character) has had two dramatic things
that have happened to her. First, she finds a letter that she thinks is directions out of the crumbling
city. Her friend Doon things similar but he thinks it's to more supplies. Another shocking thing that
happened was that her grandma died. This led to her having to move into her neighbors house. The
neighbor opened her home to Poppy and Lina and said they could sleep in her guest bedroom.
